WHO ARE WE?

Created at the end of 2010, Horpi Development SA (Horpi), a spin-off of the University of Liège, produces ladybirds of the native species Adalia bipuncpata (Adalia) for the natural control of aphids.

Thanks to an important Research and Development program, the company is constantly improving its process and production capacity. In 10 years, the annual production of ladybirds has increased by a factor of 15. In 2020, Horpi sold 7 million ladybirds.

The company also works on improving its products to make them as simple and reliable as possible to use and to guarantee their efficiency after shipment.

Biological control with ladybirds is mainly used in gardens and green areas. But more and more re-searches are showing their effectiveness in agriculture as well. Horpi notably develops the use of ladybirds to control aphids in fruit tree growing.

Most of Horpi’s customers are national and international companies specialized in biological control.
